Inspiration

A couple of days ago I stumbled across the work of Nick Brandt. For once my daily inane web searching produced something of note. I was quite simply in awe! Previously a director of music videos he exclusively photographs images of Africa. He photographs on medium-format black and white film without telephoto or zoom lenses. He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses. I just wish I could afford to buy! His forthcoming exhibition is being showcased in Sweden and runs from October to January. I think I could be tempted to jump on a plane! Here are some examples of his work. Enjoy!

Recent Work

My latest drawing is complete! It took me a while but I’ve learnt a lot from this drawing. I’ve refined my technique for drawing fur!

Here’s a tip for you. If you are right handed work from the left of the drawing to the right and if you are left handed work from right to left. It will cut out the smudging and reduce the amount of hand washing!

Aled Lewis

I’d like to introduce to you Aled Lewis. He is a graphic designer and illustrator based in London.

His work is clever, witty and beautifully executed. I sincerely urge you to check out his website, click here to visit!

I have posted a few images from his portfolio to give you a taste. They are from a collection called ‘Toy Stories’.

My latest drawing has been uploaded!

My objective was to come up with a piece of art incorporating a zebra and the colour purple and this is the result!

I have tried to give the impression that the zebra is amongst a herd although differentiating with the use of graphite and coloured pencil. I’m very pleased with the results!

Next up are some images of people with tattoos from The NY Times (weblink) :

I think they would make amazing subjects for a commissioned drawing. If you have any interesting tattoos, get in touch!
